LOOK reflects on what eye contact means, wants to bring people together and create space for dialogue. The inspiration for this project comes from the Ubuntu philosophy, which focuses on seeing each other.

LOOK is an interactive audio project about eye contact. The project gives voice to different refugees, immigrants and natives about what eye contact means to them personally. There are two dimensions to this project. First, enabling valuable interactions through technology, and second, this project aims to raise awareness about the impact, meaning and differences in eye contact. At the heart of LOOK is the idea that recognising one another can help bridge the distance between people.

INTERACTIVE
EXPERIENCE
This interactive experience lets people explore, what happens when you look at each other (or not). In the installation, two participants sit facing each other and listen to an interactive sound decor. This sound decor is controlled by biosensors. It lasts 10 minutes and can be played anywhere. Listen to responses of participants on Apple Podcast of Spotify.

PODCAST
The podcast features personal stories of people from immigrant backgrounds and explores what eye contact means in different cultural or social contexts. The stories offer glimpses, moments where people draw closer to one another, but also instances where the gaze becomes a source of oppression. Looking is anything but neutral.
