Gelegen in Amsterdam-West is Tetterode een voormalig kraakpand waarin een van de grootste creatieve gemeenschappen van Amsterdam samenwoont. Het complex herbergt kunstenaars, nachtdieren, creatieve en sociale ondernemers die hier al meer dan 40 jaar in alle rust en vrijheid kunnen ontwerpen en creëren. Ooit begonnen als een bijzonder experiment in zelfbestuur en guerrilla-architectuur, staat Tetterode momenteel op een kruispunt: in een snel veranderende en commercialiserende stad, moet de oude generatie het pand langzaam overdragen aan een volgende generatie. Hoeveel ruimte is er nog voor de oorspronkelijke idealen uit de jaren 80, en hoe zou Tetterode zich ontwikkelen in de toekomst?

Behind the closed doors of the Tetterode building in Amsterdam, one of the biggest artist communities of Amsterdam has been living a quiet life. They had squatted the building in the 1980s and furnished it according to the principles of self-management and guerrilla architecture. For decades, they have preserved a liberated zone where they could draw, paint, sculpt, write and be free, however after almost 45 years they stand at a crossroads. A younger generation must take over while the commercial pressures of Amsterdam are greater than ever and the climate for artists is not what it used to be. Will there still be room for this community in the transforming city?
